Rezūm
Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) treatment that uses the natural energy stored in water vapor, or steam, to remove excess prostate tissue that is pressing on the urethra. Mr Gordon offers this as a day case procedure at the Spire, Roundhay.
Steam is injected directly into the prostate tissue, which ultimately reduces the volume of prostate tissue. This can be done under general anaesthetic, spinal or sedation. Each injection lasts 9-seconds and a typical prostate requires 6 injections. Patients return home later that day with a catheter in situ. This is typically removed after 7-days.
